Wednesday Sailing report

September Event

Holidays and illness cut the fleet down to just six for the September event which was a pity as the conditions were perhaps the best they've been all year.

The racing was very competitive with three yachts eventually still very closely placed with half a lap to go. Harry Sharpe, however, sailing a borrowed boat, had to retire at this stage as the steering servo decided to strip its gears. Metal ones at that, which just shows how unlucky you can get in this racing game.

In the last half lap, two of the three challengers were turned "base-over-apex" by a sudden gust and ended up sailing the wrong way round.

Richard Nallon's yacht somehow escaped the big blow and forged ahead whilst the others got going again, winning eventually by a clear margin.

Nice to see a new name at the top of the months sheet but with a third place this time it looks as if Doug Potter's name will be appearing on the trophy for 2008 unless something very unexpected happens.

Next race will be the second Wednesday in October and everyone is welcome, the only caveat being that you must be a KMBC member to race.
